This autumn marks 50 years since the release of ‘The Exorcist’ and this October the story continues with ‘The Exorcist: The Believer’. The film stars Leslie Odom, Jr., Ann Dowd, Jennifer Nettles, Norbert Leo Booth, Lydia Jewett, Olivia Marcum, and Ellen Burstyn.
Ever since his pregnant wife died in the Haiti earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom, Jr.) has raised their daughter Angela (Lydia Jewett) alone.
But when Angela and her friend Catherine (newcomer Olivia Markham) disappear into the woods and return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, Victor is forced to confront the nadir of evil and, in terror and despair, search for the only person who has ever witnessed anything like this before. Chris McStine (Ellen).
For the first time since the 1973 film, Burstyn reprized her iconic role as Chris McNeil, an actress who is forever changed by what happened to her daughter Reagan five decades earlier.
‘Exit: The Believer’ is directed by David Gordon Green based on a story by Peter Sattler (‘Camp X-Ray’) and David Gordon Green from a story by Scott Teems (‘Halloween Murder’), Danny McBride (‘Halloween’ trilogy) and David Gordon Green with characters created by William Peter Blatty.
The film was produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse and David Robinson and James G. Robinson for Morgan Creek Entertainment.
‘The Exorcist: The Believer’ will hit the theaters on 13 October 2023.
