Dan + Shay are back and releasing new album ‘Bigger Houses’ on September 15th, 2023 via Warner Music Nashville.
The announcement brings new lead single ‘Save Me the Trouble’ and two more songs – ‘Heartbreak on the Map’ and ‘Big Houses’. ‘Bigger Houses’ was co-produced by band member Dan Smears and will be the duo’s fifth album. Their recently released short film ‘The Drive’ reveals that the duo have been apart for the past two years.
“Some of our records are more infused with pop or hip-hop/R&B,” Smear explains, “but on this record, I wanted to make tracks that we could jump into any bar with our live band. As songs were recorded. In the end, this music, this whole album, in ten And it’s something I can look back on in a couple of years and be really proud of in that way.
Featuring a soaring melody that builds to an explosive chorus, ‘Save Me The Trouble’ showcases a sound that hints at the new record’s direction, emphasizing a more live, stripped-down feel. “I don’t think I’m proud of that song,” Smirs added. “We wanted to have something real-time, and when we started writing this, we felt like it could be something big. I wanted every part to build, and even in the second chorus, when you say, ‘Okay, there’s no way it’s going to get any crazy,’ then Shay gets even more excited.”
Dan + Shay will perform two of these new tracks live on ‘Today’ next Friday (July 21) as part of this summer’s City Concert Series. He was also recently announced as a coach on Season 25 of NBC’s Emmy-winning program ‘The Voice’. In spring 2024, Reba McEntire will join John Legend and Chance the Rapper as the first coaching duo in the show’s history.
