Sinead Burgess to release new single ‘Rolling Stones’ in August

Australian singer-songwriter Sinead Burgess will release new single ‘Rolling Stones’ on August 4, 2023.

‘Rolling Stones’ is described as a catchy song that transports listeners back to the magical era of the 70s, reminiscent of legendary artist Linda Ronstadt. Its witty melodies and nostalgic tunes will appeal to anyone with a musical background for their first love story, evoking the power of rekindling cherished memories. With its infectious hooks, lively harmonica and soulful guitar solo, ‘Rolling Stones’ perfectly captures the spirit of the times. Marking Burgess’ first release in two years, this song promises to be an impressive comeback.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the song, Burgess shared, “I had the idea for this song a while ago, to instantly transport the depth of music to certain moments in our lives. An entire album, an artist or a single track, hearing something at a pivotal time in my life takes me to a place that touched me. Sometimes it’s a melancholic moment, other times it serves as a postcard from a place I once knew. ‘Rolling Stones’ celebrates that moment in life where we are and the people we share it with. It encapsulates the joy of coming of age and the exciting highs that come with it.

Collaborating with friend and collaborator Brian Kopelman, Burgess revealed that the song took an unexpected turn during a recording session. “The original version I presented to Brian was completely different from what we ended up with! We completely flipped it and rewrote the whole song, bringing it to a special place,” she explains. Kopelman suggested that the song channel the essence of ’70s folk rock, an idea that breathed new life into the track.

Burgess aims to create a production that embodies her appreciation of the music of that era. “I wanted a jam session feel with backing vocals, groovy bass lines, soulful harmonica, a guitar solo reminiscent of the 70’s and a powerful drummer. “I wanted to stay true to the authenticity and joy we had while writing,” shares Burgess. To elevate the song even further, she enlisted the legendary Steve Gorman (known for his work with the Black Crowes and Stereophonics) to lend his talents on drums.

“It’s been a few years since I released a new single, so needless to say, I’m incredibly excited to share this next chapter of my story with everyone. I believe ‘The Rolling Stones’ will serve as an exciting starting point, and there’s more to come!” exclaimed Sinead Burgess, teasing her upcoming musical endeavour.

Fans and music fans alike can look forward to the release of ‘Rolling Stones’ on August 4th as Bruges prepares for stages across the UK this October alongside Kezia Gill.
