Rochester, New York (WROC) – Antes del 4 de Julio, El Gobernador de Nueva York firmó el lunes la “Lei y Memoria del Sargento Gary Beckerch” in honor of a former native and New Yorker.
This legislation grants the spouses of the recipients of the Medal of Honor the eligibility to request different plaques, as well as allowing the plaques of the deceased recipients to be transferred to the surviving spouses.
State officials say that this new law will help to honor the winners of the Medal of Honor and guarantee that couples can commemorate the sacrifices and service of men and women who got married.
The legislation bears the name of a local hero, Gary Bickerish, an army veteran who received the Congressional Medal of Honor for his exemplary service during the Vietnam War in 1970.
This law will allow the wife of Sargento Beckirsch and all spouses to receive the Medal of Honor.
