‘Futurama’ Season 11 to debut on Disney+ in July – watch the trailer

‘Futurama’ is picking up (again) as the series heads to Disney+ for Season 11.

The animated sci-fi comedy has been off the air for 10 years, but it’s coming back with 10 new episodes. The new season is designed for fans old and new so you don’t need to watch the previous 10 seasons to appreciate it. Longtime fans will recognize installments in decades of mysteries – developments in Fry and Lila’s epic love story, the mysterious contents of Nibbler’s litter box, the secret history of the evil robot Santa, and the whereabouts of Keef and Amy’s tadpoles. Meanwhile, a new epidemic is in town as the crew explores the future of vaccines, bitcoin, culture cancellations, and broadcast television.

‘Futurama’ premiered in 1999 and quickly gained a loyal following and critical acclaim, including two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program. Despite its remote setting, the show is famous for its humorous commentary on modern life.

The series follows Philip J. Fry (Billy West), a New York City pizza delivery boy who accidentally freezes himself in 1999 and ends up in the year 3000. DiMaggio) and falls in love with the cyclops Lila (Katey Sagal). The trio found work at the Planet Express Delivery Company, founded by Professor Hubert Farnsworth, a descendant of Fry’s doddering. Along with accountant Hermes Conrad, assistant Amy Wong, and alien lobster Dr. John Zoidberg, they embark on exciting adventures that take them to all corners of the universe.

After its first run on the Fox Broadcasting Network, a roller coaster of cancellations and revivals ensued. Four successful straight-to-DVD releases in 2007-2009 led to a revival on Comedy Central from 2010-2013. Then, out of a short 10-year hiatus, ‘Futurama’ emerged victorious as a streaming series for Disney+ with a 20-episode order set to debut in 2023.

The entire original cast will return for the new season, including John DiMaggio, Billy West, Katey Sagal, Trace McNeil, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil Lamar and David Herrmann.

Futurama is produced by 20th Television Animation, an animation studio produced by Gunpowder Draft Studios, part of Disney Television Studios. It was created by Matt Groening and Groening and David X. It’s Cohen. Executives include Groening, Cohen, Ken Keller and Claudia Katz.
