Lindsey Cracks 20 Seconds In 200 In Tech Home Finale

Texas sprinter Courtney Lindsey ran 19.94 seconds in the 200 meters without the wind at the Fuller Track Complex.

Three men broke 20 seconds: James Dadi of West Texas College in 19:79 and Issam Osinga of the Athletics in 19:97.

Lindsey’s time this season is fourth in NCAA Division I and third in the Texas Tech record books. Four-time NCAA sprint champion Elahi Oduduru posted times of 19.73 and 19.76 during the 2019 season.

The meet was the regular season finale for the Red Raiders, who hosted the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Oklahoma on May 12-14.

Tech freshman Antoine Andrews swept the 110-meter hurdles in a wind-aided 13.46. Tim Andrews is ranked 11th in the NCAA division this season. South Plains College’s Justin Guy finished second in 13.57.

The Red Raiders, three of the top 13 in the Division 1 triple jump, have two games on Saturday. Tech finished with Amamuyowi Erhire 53-8 1/2, Keeshon King 53-0 3/4 and Chris Welch 52-0 1/2 1-2-3.

Both Erhire and King had season bests, placing 10th and 13th in Division 1. Welch placed 11th at the Texas Relays with a record of 53-5 3/4.

Other men’s technical winners Saturday included Garrett Wade (218-ft-2) in the javelin and Logan Fraley (17-5 3/4) in the pole vault.

Lubbock Christian University’s Bryce Spencer cleared 205-2 in the hammer throw while Chaparrals won the 400- and 1600-meter qualifiers. The sprint relay team of Nathaniel Luna, Ryan Gordon, Kitran Boyd and Jorge Garcia posted a time of 40.42. Boyd, Chris Rader, Gordon, Garcia ran the 1,600-meter relay in 3 minutes, 13.50 seconds.
