‘The Beat Goes On’ To Bring Music Of Cher To Niswonger

April 16 – Van Wert – Lisa McClory may not be as Cher in her regular life, but she will be on stage in full makeup and costumes, she tells the audience at the Niswonger Center on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. He feels like he’s in a best-selling living legend room.

“The Beat Goes On,” a tribute to Cher McClowry, takes viewers through six decades of music from the Sonny and Cher era.

“It’s all about the audience,” said McClavry, who has played Cher since 2017. “And we want to bring fun and excitement to the venue and share it with everyone. We’ll be bringing hits from six decades, eight costume changes, a fantastic live band and comedy.’

Audiences can expect “walks, talks and appearances” from a Broadway-style show, which McLaury said he enjoys all of.

“It’s empowering,” he said. “He’s happy. We actually make dad’s music that resonates with older audiences, but Cher’s music is great because it resonates with younger listeners. It’s good, uplifting music and people tune in. And it’s more than what he says.”

Being a cheerleader takes a lot of work. McClavry says she has to sit on her makeup for two hours.

“Personally, I don’t look like Cher, but highlighting and contouring allow me to change my look with wigs and swimwear,” she says. “I have to change the way I walk and communicate with my voice and looks. I’ve been learning a lot since I was young, acting and singing, so it’s only a big acting role for people who can’t be angry and bring the artist alive. Look at Cher. I’m a big fan of Cher.

Wearing these shoes means a lot to McLowry.

“I was born to sing and work and share with those who are having a good time,” she says. “I think the role of Cher is an acting role. I definitely don’t think I’m Cher and I want to represent her well and bring her music to a lot of people on a very personal level; It is an honor for me to be able to play this charming person on stage.
